About This Yatra

Sode Matha: 281 km north of Mangalore is a small village by the name of Sode. It is also known as Sodha, Sonda and Swadi. This village is special because it is the headquarters of the Sode Matha. The Sode Matha is part of the Ashta Mathas set up by Sri Madhvacharya. A lake known as the Hayagriva Samudra is located just outside the matha. To the west of the lake, visitors can see the Dhwaja Stamba with depictions of the Hamsa and Garuda in front of the Rama Thrivikrama temple. the first stage of the matha. Ahead of this, on the second stage, are the Rajangana and the matha offices. Two wells known as the Antaraganga and Sheetalaganga are on this level.

The Dhavala Ganga tank and Sheethala Ganga tank are set on the lowest stage. The Pancha Vrindavans is located to the east of these tanks. Four Vrindavans representing the presence of Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva and Vayu form a perfect square with Sri Vadiraja Teerthas Vrindavan in the center. A stone inscription of the Anuvrindavanakhyana can be seen beside Sri Vadiraja Teerthas Vrindavan. The Sri Vedavyasa temple is located opposite this. In the north is Naga Vana and on the right is the Bhootharaja Temple. Further, towards the east, are tombs of ten holy seers.

Murudeshwara Lord Shiva Temple: Located in Karnataka, this magnificent shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple boasts of the second highest statue of Lord Shiva in the world, and the sheer magnanimity of the statue will fill you with a sense of awe. This temple is built on the Kanduka Hill which is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides. The main temple's entrance, also called the 'gopura' stands at 123 feet and you can witness the breathtaking view of the Shiva statue from the top of the gopura. The entire surface of this temple is covered in the most intricate and detailed carvings.

Mahabaleshwar Temple in Gokarna: The Mahabaleshwar temple is an important pilgrimage temple in South India where Hindus come to worship the Aatmalinga or the Prana Linga of Lord Shiva. The temple is beautifully built in Dravidian style architecture and is strongly significant in Hindu culture. The Mahabaleshwar temple in Gokarna is among the seven Muktishetras of the Hindus. It has stood the test of time and has been a prominent place of worship since the 4th century AD. It is built with white granite stones and has beautiful Gopuras. The temple was built by the famous ruler of the Kadamba Dynasty, King Mayurasharma. A 1500-year old image of Lord Shiva is well-ingrained and beautifully carved into the temple walls. The colossal Atma Lingam is enclosed within the Shaligrama Peetha.

Terms & Conditions

  1. 1 Devotees should be punctual in their reporting time and Group leaders are to ensure that others are not delayed by the delay of few devotees. Every day the Yatra will leave as scheduled and will not wait for late comers.
  2. 2 Devotees should stay together and not plan any thing separate from the Yatra.
  3. 3 All Devotees are assigned to a group leader and they should report to their group leader for all matters.
  4. 4 Separate timing will be given for purchases/ shopping and devotees should not go here and there for purchases.
  5. 5 Devotees should bring their own lock with multiple keys and the Yatra management does not hold responsibility for any loss of baggage.
  6. 6 Devotees should carry their essentials like medicine, water bottle, ropes for drying clothes etc.
  7. 7 Please carry your chanting beads and a Vaishnava song book and actively participate in kirtans.
  8. 8 Devotees are requested to carry some emergency food for old aged and children for emergency though Prasadam is arranged for all.
  9. 9 Devotees are suggested to carry their notebook and pen for taking notes during the Yatra.
  10. 10 Devotees should bring their original identity card (aadhar) and submit as and when requested.
  11. 11 Devotees should not offend any Dham vasis by arguing or quarrelling with them.
  12. 12 No one should enter a pond or a river for bathing without the permission of the group leader.
  13. 13 Devotees should not throw garbage and should keep the Dham clean and also keep silence.
  14. 14 Devotees are requested to come in Vaishnava dress — Dhoti and Kurta for Prabhujis and Saree for Matajis during temple visits.
  15. 15 Devotees are requested to not carry any expensive items like jewellery, iPads etc.
  16. 16 Aged devotees, women and children to be given first priority and their needs to be attended on priority.
