Bhagavad Gita

A compilation of the Gita Mahatmya glorification verses detailing the spiritual benefits of reading the Bhagavad Gita.

Attaining Vaikuntha & Wiping out Past Reactions

Krishna says in the Gita that anyone who accepts the principles of bhakti-yoga and accepts the Supreme Lord as the ultimate goal can approach the spiritual sky, regardless of their social status.

Text 1: One who, with a regulated mind, recites this Bhagavad-gita scripture will attain Vaikuntha, which is free from fear and lamentation.

Text 2: If one reads Bhagavad-gita sincerely, then by the grace of the Lord the reactions of his past misdeeds will not act upon him.

Text 3: One may cleanse himself daily with water, but a bath even once in the sacred Ganges water of Bhagavad-gita altogether vanquishes the dirt of material life.

The Essence of all Upanisads

Text 4: Because Bhagavad-gita is spoken by the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one need not read any other Vedic literature.

Text 5: By drinking the Ganges waters of the Gita, the divine quintessence of the Mahabharat, one will never take rebirth in the material world.

Text 6: All the Upanisads are like a cow, and the milker is Lord Krishna. Arjuna is the calf, the nectar of the Gita is the milk, and the devotees are the enjoyers.

Text 7: There need be only one holy scripture — the Gita; only one worshipable Lord — Krishna; only one mantra — His holy names; and only one duty — His devotional service.
